All the votes have been tallied and you’re the winner for Gothic Beauty’s Readers Choice Award for Designer of the Year 2005. Congratulations! You will receive a crystal engraved award (mid to late April) and a free full page color ad to use in GB.
Now that is what I call a *good* email! Wow.
Thank you so much to everyone who voted for supporting what I do ~ it means more than you could imagine.
When I began designing, I never tried to create what was popular or in demand by the masses (or even by the underground scene), but instead wanted to bring to life an outwards reflection of what I was feeling inside. At that time, I felt so out of place with the modern age and longed for a land filled with veils and shadows, velvet and moonlight. In reality, the world outside screamed with garish commercialism and intolerance for difference. Instead I wanted to create luxury from a darkness that I found both haunting and comforting, and delved as deeply into as possible ~ trading the harshness of light for the softness of shadows.
In those first days, I thought the half-size catalogue of all-black pages, silver ink and nocturnal photos might succeed in reaching a *few* other people out there who would share my aesthetic for the elegance of timelessness and an opulence of the faraway, letting them know they weren't alone... Perhaps I would even meet a couple of like-minded friends along the way, but I never imagined the kindness, appreciation, and support I have felt over the years from so many of you all.
Contrary to those beginnings, I no longer feel isolated in the wrong time and place. Instead, this is a perfect moment when so many of us choose to make the most of our freedom to transform our surroundings into our own personal interpretation of beauty. In this newfound tribe we've formed from an age unlike any other there has ever been, where friends can just as easily come from next door or half a world away, we can revel in our creations and visions together.

And no, you are definitely not alone...
We are all bound together in this strange and beautiful isolation
Thank you... you're a perfect example of everything I was talking about. Can't wait to see you soon :)
Thanks! I'm sending you an email :)
Oooh! Congratulations! However I think it goes without saying that your designs are of impeccable quality and creative vision. I can't think of a more deserving person. :)
[p.s. this is my personal LJ. My other LJ _amaranthe_
is being used strictly for selling now.]
Thank you :) I've been meaning to remind you to send me some of your cards to include with my orders. I sent you a stack of mine a while ago, but I still would love to have some of yours to help promote you!
I'm so happy for you :)
The internet has helped communications so much, I feel happy in places like GR and feel even more like we have a beautiful community for sharing our dark passions!
I got into design because I have to alter everything I buy (nothing fitted fits over my tiny waist and big hips!) then nothing inspired me...
I love your designs, even if some aren't entirely my style, but when/if I get married I would love you to do the corset and skirt. (Though don't hold your breath for a date as he doesn't believe in marriage!)
Well, you don't need to get married to have a great skirt :) As far as marriage goes, I think if two people have a truly deep bond, no piece of paper is going to deepen it any further. It seems like the two of you are definitely a case of that! There are some people (usually younger) who seem to get married just because they want the big party and fairytale vision of a day, without really understanding what kind of commitment they're getting into. I say, just throw the big party ;)

This is so deserved; I am so happy for you!
I should be able to send you a photo of the dress you'll be wearing by tomorrow :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!this is well deserved award for your beautiful designs and hard work!!!
Thank you ~ especially for recognizing all the work that goes into it all :)
That is so cool! Congratulations!
I thought so too! Finally, I can make the little girl in me who wanted to win a trophy proud ~ I figured if you didn't win a trophy when you were little, by the time you're an adult, it was only possible if you got the Nobel peace prize or something... Wonder if there's still time? ;)
oh, i am so excited for you! congratulations. :)
"Band of the Year"... I think this should be in your future :)
Congrats to you! You are my first and favorite! You so deserve this award!!
I realized something last week while unpacking from a trip I took and I was unpacking my Demonia gown outfit
. That dress was the very first thing I bought when I started dressing like I actaully wanted too. And that dress I still have almost 10 years later and probably is the only thing I have kept all these years. :)
That is a terrific compliment! I'm really touched...
Yay! That makes me soooo happy!
So, I went to check it out, turns out everyone I voted for won. Great.
That's wonderful! You've got a gift for prediction, and thank you so much for your vote :)
Congratulations--you guys deserve this so much for all your dedication and vision over the years :-)
Thanks :) You might understand more than most how much time goes into something like this... dedication is definitely a word for it!
